Previously owning a 58 Pontiac sedan Paul was in search of something special and a little more on the custom side of things than the classic 50s original ride. Reading numerous books and wanting one the those cool customs to jump right out of a double page spread and into his garage led Paul on an extensive search.
Ahhh, the internet. What did we do without it? After countless hours of browsing, downloading, searching and comparing he felt that he knew what he wanted next. He wanted a 1957 Cadillac Coupe DeVille, he was a Cadillac man, but not just any Cadillac man, he was a “Custom Cadillac Man”. He wanted to change his name to D’Agostino or Barris, he wanted shaved door handles, something nosed and decked, lake pipes and a tube grille. There are slim pickings in Australia if you are looking to buy a Custom Caddy so he had to take the search off shore.
His search led him to Melbourne, Melbourne Florida, where a man called Wayne Mann had a humidified garage full of lots of classic and custom cars for sale, which were part of his private collection. After getting to know him over the net and via a couple of probing phone calls, th
e deed was done. A cheque was sent to a man Paul had never met, to buy a car he had only seen online. However, this seemed like the car of his dreams and an opportunity to good to pass on.The results speak for themselves – all Paul had to do was register the car, install air ride suspension of course, and enjoy his newly acquired vehicle.
As a graphic designer Paul also appreciates the design and style of the car in its full entirety.”I see design as an integral part of day to day living…Whether you are sitting in a beautiful interior space or reading a well designed publication, or watching opening graphics to your favourite movie.I like to be inspired by it all…. and there is nothing more inspiring than a Custom Cadillac complete with shaved door handles and air ride suspension.”
